Abstract
Emergency response systems play a critical role in saving lives and minimizing damage during disasters or accidents. The “IoT-Based Smart Emergency Alert System” project aims to develop an intelligent alert system that leverages IoT technology to provide real-time detection, reporting, and response to emergencies. This system automatically detects incidents such as fires, gas leaks, or unauthorized entry, and promptly sends alerts to relevant authorities and individuals, ensuring timely action and reducing the impact of emergencies.
Proposed System
The proposed system is an IoT-enabled emergency alert platform that uses a network of sensors and embedded devices to monitor various environmental parameters continuously. Upon detecting an anomaly, such as smoke, gas leakage, or unauthorized movement, the system triggers an alert that is sent to emergency services, building managers, and other stakeholders via SMS, email, or app notifications. The system also includes a centralized dashboard for real-time monitoring, incident management, and historical data analysis to improve safety protocols.
Existing System
Traditional emergency alert systems often rely on manual triggers, isolated alarm systems, or outdated technology, which can result in delayed responses and increased risk during emergencies. These systems may lack the ability to provide real-time data, integrate with modern communication channels, or offer comprehensive monitoring across different types of incidents. The limitations of existing systems hinder their effectiveness in quickly and accurately alerting authorities and managing emergency situations.
Methodology
- Requirement Analysis: Identify key emergency scenarios to monitor, such as fires, gas leaks, and unauthorized access. Determine sensor requirements and system integration needs.
- System Design: Design the architecture of the IoT-based emergency alert system, including sensor placement, microcontroller selection, and communication protocols.
- Implementation: Integrate sensors with embedded systems, develop firmware for real-time data acquisition and alert triggering, and establish communication with cloud services.
- Cloud Integration: Set up a cloud platform for real-time alert processing, incident logging, and data analytics, ensuring scalability and security.
- Dashboard Development: Develop a web-based or mobile dashboard for monitoring incidents in real time, managing alerts, and analyzing historical data.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct extensive testing in various environments to ensure system accuracy, reliability, and quick response times.
- Deployment: Deploy the system in targeted locations, providing installation support, user training, and continuous maintenance and system optimization.
