Abstract
The “Garbage Management System for Smart City” project aims to develop a comprehensive solution for optimizing waste collection and management in urban areas using smart technologies. The system will utilize IoT sensors, data analytics, and mobile applications to monitor waste levels in real-time, optimize collection routes, and improve overall waste management efficiency. By integrating with city infrastructure, the system will help reduce operational costs, minimize environmental impact, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
Existing System
Traditional garbage management systems rely on fixed schedules for waste collection, which often leads to inefficiencies such as overfilled bins, unnecessary pickups, and increased operational costs. Waste collection routes are typically planned manually or using outdated methods, leading to suboptimal routes and higher fuel consumption. Additionally, monitoring waste levels and managing waste disposal in real-time can be challenging without advanced technology.
Proposed System
The proposed “Garbage Management System for Smart City” will leverage IoT sensors installed in waste bins to monitor fill levels and environmental conditions. The system will use this data to dynamically adjust collection schedules and optimize routes for garbage trucks. A mobile application will be developed for residents to report issues, schedule bulk waste pickups, and receive notifications. The system will also include a data analytics platform to provide insights into waste patterns, operational efficiency, and environmental impact.
