ABSTRACT

This research introduces a novel Delay-Sensitive Multicast Protocol designed to enhance network capacity in multirate Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs). In multirate MANETs, nodes operate at different transmission rates, leading to challenges in efficiently managing multicast communication. The proposed protocol focuses on mitigating delays and optimizing throughput in a multirate environment, addressing the unique requirements of delay-sensitive applications.

The protocol employs adaptive mechanisms to dynamically adjust transmission rates based on network conditions and application demands, effectively balancing the trade-off between delay and throughput. Simulation experiments are conducted using NS2 (Network Simulator 2) to evaluate the performance of the Delay-Sensitive Multicast Protocol in comparison to existing multicast protocols in multirate MANETs.

Key performance metrics, including end-to-end delay, throughput, and packet delivery ratio, are analyzed under various scenarios and traffic conditions. The results demonstrate the protocol’s effectiveness in improving network capacity while meeting the latency requirements of delay-sensitive applications.
