ABSTRACT

This research investigates the impact of jamming attacks on wireless communication networks through simulation using NS2 (Network Simulator 2). Jamming attacks, which involve deliberate interference to disrupt communication, pose significant threats to the reliability and performance of wireless networks. The study specifically focuses on three types of jamming attacks: constant, periodic, and random, aiming to analyze their effects on network performance and evaluate potential countermeasures.

The simulation setup involves the integration of jamming attack models into NS2, creating realistic scenarios to mimic constant, periodic, and random jamming incidents. Various network parameters, including topology, traffic patterns, and node mobility, are manipulated to assess the robustness and adaptability of wireless networks in the face of jamming attacks.

Performance metrics such as packet loss, throughput, and latency are analyzed to quantify the impact of jamming attacks on the network. Moreover, the study explores the effectiveness of countermeasures such as frequency hopping and power control in mitigating the effects of jamming attacks.
